This electronic speed controller is for single phase fans. There is a potentiometer and separate ON/OFF switch with in-built minimum/idle speed which can be adjusted, and two working modes:
Hard start will start the motor at max. speed for 8-10 seconds, after which the motor speed automatically follows the position of the potentiometer.
Soft start will start the motor according to the position of the potentiometer.
